Industrial Development
The Chicago Southland Economic Development Corporation (CSEDC) is a 501(c)(3) Corporation that specializes in supporting national and foreign direct investment in the region south of the city of Chicago for companies who are in industrial clusters of manufacturing products from chemicals, metals, plastics due to the unique industrial rail assets of the region and a dedicated and trained workforce.
CSEDC provides services to support existing and new companies in the region:
Industrial Land Development - We play a significant role in supporting the private redevelopment of industrial properties. In the past year, CSEDC has been involved in a 155 acre development in Markham that is now assembled and under control by a development team.
Investing in Logistics Infrastructure - We work with a multitude of utility, county and state partners to organize infrastructure investments to support regional business development. Organizing Financing Incentives - CSEDC helps businesses access financial incentives to create successful projects. More recently, CSEDC was selected by the State and County to be the Managing Director of the new BRIMPA fund and is working to bring Opportunity Zone funding to projects in the Chicago Southland.
Networking and Industrial Marketing - Through our well attended networking events and extensive mailing list, CSEDC organizes dialogue about issues that affect our region such as highlighting our work to protect our property tax incentives. In addition, CSEDC plays a significant role in raising awareness with regional industrial developers about opportunities in the Chicago Southland by participating at industrial trade shows.
Custom Compliance - Our partners in custom brokerage and international freight forwarding are able to help companies establish CES (Centralized Examination Station), CFS (Container Freight Station), FTZ (Foreign Trade Zone) and bonded warehouses. CSEDC is working closely with the GSU Center for Global Supply Chain & International Business to improve our custom capabilities.
